The Story Behind the Song

Tunnel Vision is about those moments when everything else disappears.

Sometimes it happens while you're deeply focused on a creative project. Sometimes it's on a crowded dancefloor, in the middle of a great conversation, or when you meet someone who immediately captures your attention. Whatever the trigger, the feeling is the same: the outside world fades away and your entire focus narrows to a single point.

Ironically, that's also how the song itself came to life.

It began with a simple four-bar motif that appeared almost by accident while experimenting with a new soundbank for the Spire synthesizer. One of the patches reminded me of the iconic lead sound from U96's Das Boot, but as I started playing around with it, a completely different melody emerged. That short musical phrase would eventually become the foundation of the entire track.

The real challenge wasn't writing the idea — it was trusting it. The motif was only a few bars long, and I spent a long time trying to figure out whether it could carry an entire arrangement without losing the hypnotic quality that had caught my attention in the first place. Looking back, I realize I had developed my own kind of Tunnel Vision. The more I worked on the song, the more everything revolved around preserving that single feeling.

One of the things I enjoy most about instrumental music is that it leaves room for interpretation. Without lyrics, every listener brings their own experiences into the song. For some, Tunnel Vision might be about creativity. For others, ambition, love or obsession. None of those interpretations are wrong — they're simply different expressions of the same state of mind.

At its core, Tunnel Vision is about the moments when the rest of the world quietly disappears. Whether you're chasing an idea, a dream or another person, there are times when complete focus feels less like a choice and more like something you surrender to.
