The Story Behind the Album

For a long time, I wasn't convinced I should make an album.

By the time I started releasing music as Fredlite, the industry had largely shifted towards singles. Listeners discovered individual songs through playlists and algorithms rather than sitting down with a full record from beginning to end. From a practical standpoint, spending months on an album didn't seem to make much sense.

What eventually changed my mind wasn't the format itself, but the opportunity it offered. An album could be more than a collection of songs — it could tell a larger story.

Rather than releasing thirteen loosely connected tracks, I wanted the album to feel larger than the sum of its parts. I realized I needed a backdrop that could hold stories about heartbreak, temptation, hope, ambition and self-doubt — a place where all of those stories could belong.

That place became Temptation City.

From the very first seconds, I wanted listeners to feel as though they were entering that world. The album opens with The Arrival, where the sound of an aircraft cabin gives way to the captain announcing the descent into Temptation City. The artwork continues the same idea, showing the city from above through mist and clouds, as if you're looking down just before a late-night landing.

The songs themselves explore very different themes. Some are more closely tied to that world than others, but together they paint a picture of the people who live there and those who simply pass through it. Some chase love, others recognition. Some embrace temptation, while others confront self-doubt or the realization that life hasn't quite turned out the way they imagined.

The city itself remains deliberately out of focus. I wanted it to feel like a place that continues to exist beyond the stories being told — a place where life goes on long after the last beat fades.

Everything about the album was shaped by that atmosphere. The music, the artwork and the overall aesthetic all embraced a darker mood, set against a backdrop of rainy nights, mist and blurred city lights.

Ironically, the album reached listeners during the brightest part of the Swedish year. I had imagined releasing it in late autumn, when the nights are long and the atmosphere outside feels much closer to the world inside the music. But songwriting, recording and refining the album took longer than expected. By the time everything was finished, it was already late May. Fans had been asking about the album for months, and I realized there comes a point where you have to stop waiting for the perfect moment and simply let go.

Looking back, I'm glad I did. While the initial surge of listeners eventually settled, the album quietly found a life of its own. It has since accumulated more than a million streams on Spotify, and what pleases me most is that many listeners continued exploring beyond the singles. The deeper album tracks, despite never receiving any advertising or playlist campaigns of their own, have steadily found an audience over time. It was a reassuring reminder that even in the streaming era, people still appreciate an album when it invites them somewhere worth returning to.

The closing track, Endgame, hints that while the stories may have reached their conclusion, the journey hasn't. Some places become part of you long after you've left them behind, and I wanted Temptation City to feel like one of those places.

At its core, Hurt, Dirt, And Healing Hearts is about what happens when you stop lying to yourself. It's about the moments and places that quietly change us, and the stories we carry with us when we leave.

I set out to make an album, but somewhere along the way I also found a place that still feels full of stories waiting to be told.

Lyrics

Chasing Illusions

Deep inside I know you play me
A million lies in a hot disguise
You are nothing but a heartache
But I refuse to realize
That I'm

Chasing illusions
Livin’ a dream
I know I shouldn't but it
Feels so heavenly
Give me your lovin’
Give it to me
Until reality comes
Crashing down on me
Comes crashing down on me

I can't face the afterwards
Being alone without you next to me
All the things you do to me
Make me feel like I can't breathe
And I need you here again
I need you again

I need you again
I need you again
I need you again

Chasing illusions
Livin’ a dream
I know I shouldn't but it
Feels so heavenly
Give me your lovin’
Give it to me
Until reality comes
Crashing down on me
Comes crashing down on me

Imposter

Another one of those dreams
Twisted sheets and silent screams
It’s 3 AM, and I am certain
I know that they are on to me

I'm an imposter
About to be
Exposed in all my
Mediocrity
I know they’re whispering
Behind my back
They say I'm useless
That I can't keep up

They don't trust me
‘Cause I’m an imposter
In my darkest hour
I’m an imposter

I know I’m good at what I do
And I know I fill my shoes
But I can’t escape the feeling
That my nightmares tell the truth

I'm an imposter
About to be
Exposed in all my
Mediocrity
I know they’re whispering
Behind my back
They say I'm useless
That I can't keep up

They don't trust me
‘Cause I’m an imposter
In my darkest hour
I’m an imposter

My Goodbye

I've been trying
For far too long
Don't you think I know
What's going on
Another day
Another lie
This is the end
This is my goodbye
Bye bye

Get out of here
I'm better off alone
I'm better off
Just living on my own
Can't take another day
Can't take another lie
It's time for me to live
To live my life
To live my life

All those broken
Promises
Business trips
Conferences
All those late nights
Working overtime
This is the end
This is my goodbye
Bye bye

Get out of here
I'm better off alone
I'm better off
Just living on my own
Can't take another day
Can't take another lie
It's time for me to live
To live my life
To live my life

Another day
Another lie
This is the end
This is my goodbye
Bye bye

Get out of here
I'm better off alone
I'm better off
Just living on my own
Can't take another day
Can't take another lie
It's time for me to live
To live my life
To live my life

Angel Of Decadence

I said nevermore
But here I am
Ready for take-off
Once again
No regrets
Reaching higher
My desire
A roaring fire

I'm the angel
Of decadence
Don't care about consequences
Tonight
I'm the angel
Of decadence
Let’s blow the roof off
Tonight
I wanna party tonight

Waking up
Alone again
Kneeling before the god of
Porcelain
I said nevermore
But here I am
Ready for take-off
Once again

I'm the angel
Of decadence
Don't care about consequences
Tonight
I'm the angel
Of decadence
Let’s blow the roof off
Tonight
I wanna party tonight

I'm the angel
I'm the angel
I'm the angel
I'm the angel
I wanna party tonight

I said nevermore
But here I am
Ready for take-off
Once again

I'm the angel
Of decadence
Don't care about consequences
Tonight
I'm the angel
Of decadence
Let’s blow the roof off
Tonight
I wanna party tonight

Slipped Away

You said dreamin' is for sleepers
It won't take you anywhere
Why can’t you be more like your brother
You can't be livin' on a prayer

I know you meant to protect me
From disappointment and resent
But I needed appreciation
Not your constant malcontent

I haven’t talked to you in ages
Since we had our falling out
Didn’t answer when you called me
Looking back I was way too proud

All I wanted was to show you
That I had what it takes
I was just about to call you
When you suddenly passed away

Now I’ll never get to tell you
All the things I longed to say
Nothing left but the silence
And the words that slipped away

Deep inside I hope you’re watching
From wherever you may be
That I’ve got your appreciation
For who I am and the life I lead

All I wanted was to show you
That I had what it takes
I was longing for validation
And a little encouragement

All I wanted was to show you
That I had what it takes
I just wanted appreciation
For who I am and the life I lead

You Are The One

Same old bickering
Time after time
It doesn’t matter
It doesn’t matter

You’re driving me insane
Time after time
It doesn’t matter
Oh no
It doesn’t matter

Cause I know it isn’t easy
To be with someone like me
And I’m forever grateful
That it became you and me
You and me

I’m a lonely planet
You are the sun
Let’s grow old together
I love you
You are the one
You’re the one
You are the one

You are the one
You are the one
You’re the one
You are the one

I’m a lonely planet
You are the sun
Let’s grow old together
I love you
You are the one
You’re the one
You are the one

You are the one
You are the one
You are the one
You’re the one
You are the one

Golden Cage

Bored to the rim of insanity
Every second feels like an eternity
Another form, another regulation
I’m drowning in this pointless administration

The rest of my life is calling for me
I really should move on and turn the page
I've given up my passion for security
I’m trading time to linger in a golden cage
A golden cage

This isn´t me; I know I don´t belong here
This isn´t what I was intended for
Faking smiles but dying on the inside
I’m losing it; can’t take this anymore

The rest of my life is calling for me
I really should move on and turn the page
I've given up my passion for security
I’m trading time to linger in a golden cage

I ask myself, why am I here?
Chasing fulfillment year after year
I´m sick and tired of talking the talk
The time has come to walk the walk

The rest of my life is calling for me
I’m ready to move on and turn the page
I’m standing at the edge of eternity
I’m finally breaking free from the golden cage

The rest of my life is calling for me
I’m ready to move on and turn the page
I’m standing at the edge of eternity
I’m finally breaking free from the golden cage

Endgame

The sun is shining
And everything feels steady
Neither won't last long here
In Temptation City

The play of life continues
And this is just the start
Of yet another cycle
Of hurt, dirt and healing hearts
