The Story Behind the Song

On the surface, I Wanna Feel It sounds like a breakup song.

It isn't.

At least not in the traditional sense. The "you" in the lyric isn't another person. It's a passion I'd slowly lost touch with.

Before Fredlite, snowboarding had been one of the defining parts of my life for more than twenty years. I had also spent a decade kitesurfing and kiteboarding. But somewhere along the way, the excitement began to fade. Every new season followed the same pattern: I started out rusty and hesitant, gradually built confidence, and finally felt like I was progressing — just as the season came to an end. Eventually, I had to accept something I didn't want to admit: I was never going to become as good as I'd once imagined.

That realization hurt more than I expected.

The song grew out of that feeling. Not the loss of the sport itself, but the loss of the excitement it used to bring. I found myself longing to feel the same anticipation, obsession, and joy that had once come so naturally. Looking back, it reminded me of something much older — the moment in childhood when I realized playing with LEGO simply wasn't as magical anymore. Some chapters don't end with a dramatic goodbye. They quietly stop feeling like home.

The artwork reflects that transition. A winter sunset over a bridge in northern Sweden became a symbol of crossing into a new phase of life, where part of your identity is left behind while another is still taking shape.

Musically, this was an important milestone. Along with Who I Really Am, it was one of the first songs where I felt I'd truly found my own take on melodic trance. I remember studying the emotional urgency of Blinding Lights by The Weeknd, trying to capture that same sense of longing and forward momentum. Elin's vocal turned out exactly the way I'd hoped, and to this day it's still one of our favorite collaborations.

The response was equally encouraging. The song became one of my stronger-performing releases, eventually passing 100,000 streams and continuing to find new listeners long after its release.

At its core, I Wanna Feel It is about mourning the loss of a passion that once defined you. Sometimes we don't miss the activity itself — we miss the person we were when it made us feel alive. Only later did I realize there was a certain symmetry to it. Music had once quietly made room for snowboarding. Now snowboarding was quietly making room for music again.

Lyrics

I Wanna Feel It

I wanna feel it
Feel it the way it used to be
I wanna need it
I wanna long for you and me
I wanna feel it
Feel it the way it used to be
I wanna need it
I wanna long for you and me

I wish I missed you like I
Used to do back then
When all I wanted was to
Hang with you again
I miss the times when you were
Always on my mind
I know it's over but I
Hate to say goodbye

I wanna feel it
Feel it the way it used to be
I wanna need it
I wanna long for you and me

I wanna feel it
I wanna need it
I wanna feel it
I wanna need it
I wanna need it

I wanna feel it
Feel it the way it used to be
I wanna need it
I wanna long for you and me
I wanna feel it
Feel it the way it used to be
I wanna need it
I wanna long for you and me
I wanna long for you and me

I wanna feel it
Feel it the way it used to be
I wanna need it
I wanna long for you and me
I wanna feel it
Feel it the way it used to be
I wanna need it
I wanna long for you and me
