The Story Behind the Song

After Sunset Serenade, I started looking for opportunities to collaborate with other artists. At the time, my audience was still relatively small, and collaborating felt like a natural way to reach new listeners while challenging myself creatively.

Around the same time, Swedish artist Daniel Bromander posted in a Facebook group looking for someone to remix one of his songs. After a few conversations, we settled on Keep On Living — a song that immediately stood out to me as having the biggest potential.

Daniel had already built a larger audience than I had and was known to many Swedes through a national TV talent show. His personal story also gave the lyrics an added depth. Having grown up in one of Sweden's most controversial religious movements, the song carries a sense of breaking free and rediscovering yourself. We never discussed that connection explicitly during the project, but knowing his background made the lyrics resonate even more strongly.

Musically, I found myself returning to many of the sounds that had first made me fall in love with dance music. The production drew inspiration from late-'90s classics like Faithless' Insomnia and Sash!'s Encore Une Fois, combining driving trance energy with melodic pop sensibilities.

One of my favorite moments comes halfway through the song. Everything suddenly drops into a completely different world as the tempo is cut in half, leaving only a gentle groove, a picked upright bass and a jazzy piano before gradually building back into a soaring trance arpeggio. On paper it sounds like an unlikely combination, but somehow the contrast worked remarkably well.

The remix quickly found an audience far beyond what either of us had expected. While Daniel's original version ultimately became even more successful, the remix found a life of its own. Today it has accumulated well over 290,000 streams, making it my most-streamed release and one of Daniel's most popular songs.

Perhaps the biggest impact happened away from Spotify.

Working with Daniel led to other creative projects, including cover artwork and video production, and through him I met songwriter Roland "Rolli" Forsman, founder and creative force behind the band Remedy. What began as a single remix eventually grew into both new friendships and professional opportunities. Rolli later introduced me to other artists, and over time I found myself helping musicians with everything from artwork and video production to marketing and Meta Ads.

Looking back, it's remarkable how much came from one simple Facebook post.

At its core, Keep On Living is about new beginnings. Fittingly, it also became one of the biggest new beginnings in my own musical journey. It wasn't just another release — it was the song that showed me how one collaboration can open doors you never knew existed.
