The Story Behind the Song

Sometimes a song refuses to disappear.

One Last Night actually began during the writing sessions for Never Meant To Be. In the early stages, I found myself exploring two very different directions. One leaned heavily into the emotional vocal that would eventually define Never Meant To Be. The other followed a more traditional uplifting trance approach built around melodies and energy.

As the songs evolved, it became clear they were trying to tell two different stories. The vocal arrangement became Never Meant To Be, but I couldn't bring myself to abandon the instrumental ideas from the alternate version. They had a life of their own.

Rather than forcing them into a song where they no longer belonged, I decided to let them become something entirely new. Looking back, that was the right decision. Instead of ending up with one compromise, I ended up with two songs that each knew exactly what they wanted to be.

The story behind One Last Night gradually revealed itself through the music. It became a celebration of those rare evenings when everyday responsibilities seem to disappear for a while. A night spent with close friends, chasing adventure, sharing stories and pretending tomorrow is still far away. Deep down, you know reality will eventually catch up with you — but for one more night, that doesn't matter.

Because the track is entirely instrumental, it leaves room for listeners to bring their own memories into it. Some might picture the final night of a holiday. Others the last evening before moving away, or simply one unforgettable night that still returns to them years later. I like that it never insists on a single interpretation.

At its core, One Last Night is about trying to hold on to a moment you know cannot last. Sometimes the memories we treasure most aren't the ones that changed our lives forever — they're the ones that reminded us, if only for a night, what it feels like to be completely present.
